Games that run out of your patience, never your allowance.

CrimsonPine builds small Android games with nothing behind them: no account, no connection, no adverts, nothing to buy. The current one is Oddgrid, where the only thing standing between you and the next round is your own eyesight.

THE STUDIO

The panels on this page are a shade apart. So are the sections.

You probably did not notice until it was pointed out — which is the entire subject of the app below, and a reasonable summary of how we build. A difficulty curve made of shrinking differences does not need a shop attached to it; it needs the differences to be honest and the run to end when your eyes give out, not when a timer wants money.

So Oddgrid has no adverts between rounds, no revive to buy, no hint currency and no energy. A wrong tap costs you the round and nothing else, and the next one starts immediately. There is no way to pay to see better.

Every difficulty step is generated on the device from a fixed rule, so the shade difference at round forty is the same for everybody. Nothing is tuned per player, because nothing about the player is known.

Find the Tile That Doesn't Belong

TIMED SUDDEN DEATH RELAXED

One of these tiles isn't like the others. A grid of identical squares fills the screen — except one, which is a fraction of a shade different. Tap it and the round advances: the grid gets bigger, and the difference gets smaller. Keep going as long as your eyes hold out.

It starts almost insultingly easy and turns brutal fast. By the later rounds you are squinting at a wall of tiles hunting a shade that barely exists, with the clock ticking and a wrong tap costing you. There is a timed mode where every second counts, an endless mode that runs until you slip, and a relaxed mode with no pressure at all. Your best round and high score are kept, so there is always a wall to break through next time.

Where your own threshold sits

No grid and nothing to find — two panels, and a difference you control. Widen it until the seam appears, then narrow it until it vanishes again. The number underneath is the real colour distance between the two halves, measured in CIE Lab, the same units colour scientists use.

versus the textbook threshold

Two panels, two sliders and nothing to tap — there is no odd tile here, no round and no score. Oddgrid is the version where the difference shrinks on its own, the grid keeps growing, and the only question is how far your eyes get.
